About the Author

About Samantha Hussey

Samantha Hussey, or Mrs H to her fans, is a bag-sewing patterns designer based in the beautiful Welsh Valleys. As well as having her own line of modern bag-sewing patterns on her website www.mrs-h.com, Samantha hosts The Bag Retreat, a bagmaking getaway for sewists. She also runs The Bag of the Month Club, a bag patterns subscription club, with leading Canadian designer Janelle MacKay of Emmaline Bags.

Samantha’s mission is to make typically tricky bag styles accessible to bagmakers of all skill levels, and to help 'bagineers' use pretty hardware! Samantha has collaborated with many of the main influencers within the bagmaking community, including Sew Sweetness, Blue Calla, Swoon Patterns, Noodlehead and Betz White, as well as working with some of the top brands in the industry including Janome, Mettler and Aurifil.

If you haven't dipped your tows into making your own accessories yet, now could be the perfect time. With these all-in-one masterclasses, even the trickiest of styles becomes easy as pie.

British Patchwork & Quilting

These 8 bags are professional projects using many materials, mainly fabric but also faux leather. They are graded from beginner to advanced. The introduction deals qith tools including hammers and punches plus sewing necessities. The techniques using pattern pieces, adding interfacing and top titching follow. Pocket making is an introduction to the techniques.

The first projects use interfaced and lined fabric. They are sturdy with solid bases and metal stud feet. Later items add faux leather. The bags have metal buckles, swivel clips, rings and other professional attachments.

Numerous photos and very clear detailed instructions make this an inspirational text book for even nervous bag makers (like me).
