Geometric Knit Blankets

£21.95

30 innovative and fun-to-knit designs by Margaret Holzmann

Book Description

Express your colourful side! The patterns in Geometric Knit Blankets are inspired by quilts, tiles, and other colour block designs. Every blanket is a stunning feast for the eyes, and all are for the intermediate knitter or confident beginner. Knit them as shown or choose colours you love best or that work with your décor.

The construction of each blanket is fully and beautifully illustrated, and the techniques used to make each item are clearly listed so you know what is involved. Many blankets offer two methods of construction, so you can choose to knit with techniques you favour. The blankets feature an abundance of different geometric shapes: squares, rectangles, triangles, diamonds, hexagons, and circles. The individual blocks for a given blanket can also be rearranged to make additional designs. These blankets are so much fun you will want to make them all!

About the Author

About Margaret Holzmann

Margaret Holzmann likes to design and knit the BIG things: blankets, throws, and sweaters. She uses these larger items as a canvas for colourwork, shapes, and texture. She excels at construction techniques, the geometry of knitting, and colour theory. Following a career as an engineer at Bell Labs and Jet Propulsion Laboratory, she is now a full-time knitting designer living in California, USA, and her patterns have appeared in many knitting publications.

The patterns in this book have a lovely modern feel and the photos and colours used are inspirational. There are a number of the designs that I would love to knit, my favourite being 'Petals' that would also be lovely as cushion covers. The patterns would be suitable for an experienced knitter who can follow charts and instructions and knit confidently and also crochet skills are an advantage in able to complete the finishing for some of the projects. Most of the blankets are large but sizes could be altered to suit the needs of individuals.

When reading through the patterns it is clear that they are targeted for an American audience and English knitters will need to check terminology carefully before embarking  on a project. At the back of the book all abbreviations have been explained.
